Rivalries, hard bargaining and diplomatic drama are the fun. Keep it in-game.
Presidential is a game about running a country. Rivalries, hard bargaining and diplomatic drama are part of the fun, but they are in-game. Treat other presidents like people, because they are.
1. Play hard, play fair
Do:
- negotiate hard, sign treaties, and break them if you're willing to pay the price
- work with your bloc: every country belongs to one of 22 fixed regional blocs, and you can coordinate in your bloc's channel and through treaties
- stay in character, keep it civil, and play fair
2. What's not allowed
These rules cover everything you write in Presidential: messages, your handle, treaty names, your handoff note and your reports.
Don't:
- Harass: no threats, insults aimed at a person, stalking, or pile-ons.
- Hate: nothing that attacks people for who they are (race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age).
- Sexual or violent content: no sexual content, no glorifying real-world violence, terrorism or self-harm.
- Personal information: never share your own or anyone else's real-world details (names, addresses, phone numbers, socials).
- Real-world politics as abuse: Presidential's countries are simulated. Don't use them to attack real people or groups.
- Spam and scams: no advertising, links to off-platform trading, or selling seats, accounts or favours.
- Cheating: no multiple accounts, bots, exploits or coordinated manipulation of votes, markets or rankings.
3. The text filter
An automatic filter checks what players write (messages, handles, treaty names, handoff notes and report details) before anyone else sees it:
- text with slurs or hate speech isn't sent ("That breaks the Community Guidelines"), and a handle like that can't be used
- other profanity is replaced with "•••"
- email addresses, phone numbers, links and "add me on…" handles are replaced with "[contact removed]"
What you see after you send is exactly what everyone else sees. Replies written by AI (ministers, AI presidents, briefings) go through the same filter. The filter is a safety net, not a permission slip: if something gets past it, report it.
4. Blocking
- To block a player, open your conversation with them, or their country, open the … menu and choose Block.
- What changes: their messages, their lines in your bloc's channel, and the notifications their messages would trigger no longer reach you.
- They aren't told. Their messages still send on their side; they just never arrive on yours.
- It follows the person, not the country. If they move to another seat, they stay blocked.
- The game still runs. They can still propose treaties and vote in the Global Council.
- To unblock, go to Settings → Blocked presidents.
Blocking is for players. AI presidents (labelled AI in the game) and caretaker cabinets can't be blocked, but you can report anything they write.
5. Reporting
- A conversation: open the thread, open the … menu and choose Report.
- A player: open their country, open the … menu and choose Report.
- A treaty name or a handoff note: you can report a treaty's name, and the handoff note you inherited, from the treaty or the note.
A report includes the reason you pick, any details you add, and a copy of what you reported (for a conversation, its last 20 messages). Reports are reviewed by people on the Presidential team, and we don't tell the player who reported them. If someone is in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
6. Enforcement
Depending on how serious it is, and on what came before, we may:
- remove content: a removed message reads "[removed by a moderator]" for everyone
- suspend your account: a suspended account can't play. The game tells you why and how to reach us. You can still delete your account and its data.
- ban your account permanently: for serious or repeated breaches, the suspension is permanent.
